Somewhere, in each and every one of us, there’s a deep hunger to understand, to seek, to know.
There’s a longing to merge. We want to feel connected, loved and seen. We want to trust that we will be taken care of, even when life is a mystery. But it’s not so easy to feel those things in our heart, or know them to be true. Especially when our ego has us looking through one lens, while our emotions have us looking through another.
When our ego is distorted (as most egos are), it distracts us with shiny things, juicy desires, reminders of failure, admonitions to "behave", and stories about the way people judge us.
When our emotions are distorted (as most emotions are), they keep us busy with real-time suffering, memories of pain, avoidance of anything that feels bad, and comparison.
How are we supposed to do the deep work needed to feel true connection, with all of this distraction and diversion?
